Zocalo has been one of Charlottesville’s most popular dining and nightlife spots for the past 20 years and is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. During the warm weather months, Zocalo’s large patio is a regional favorite where guests enjoy our cocktails as they catch up with friends or relax and watch the endless parade of people strolling the Downtown Mall.  During the colder months, guests cozy up next to our fireplace and enjoy savory entrees and rotating specials.

Zocalo has been praised by customers and food critics alike for its consistently excellent food as well as friendly, professional and engaging service. Whether you’re in the mood for an intimate dinner or a lively, energetic bar scene, Zocalo provides an environment for all.

Zocalo’s original owner, Ivan Rekosh, has sold the restaurant to our new Head Chef, Will Miguel, and his sister and brother-in-law. Will has partnered with his General Manager, Victoria New and they are both excited to take the restaurant forward with continued exceptional dinner service and beginning Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Zocalo will continue to be an integral part of Charlottesville’s food scene as our menu begins to change, as well as keep some of Zocalo’s favorites.

Zocalo’s mission is to give each guest a place to celebrate life’s special moments by offering exceptional service, and the best fusion cuisine Charlottesville has to offer. Zocalo focuses on the fine details to make each dining experience with us unforgettable. We believe in providing exceptional service as well as a unique and genuine attention that our guests tell stories about long after their visit.
